Congratulations to the following students for making All State for the 2016 Illinois Music Educators Association Annual Conference.
Orchestra: Carson Potts (Percussion); Anne Bak (Cello); Andrei Gabor (Violin 2); Albert Li (Violin 2); Ellyn Liu (Violin 2); Emma Mcmillan (Viola); Janet Pang (Violin 1); David Qi (Violin 2); Nick Xie (Violin 1) and Austin Zadoks (Double Bass) Jazz Band: Aaron DeSalvio (Trumpet) Chorus: Ronal Akpan (Bass II); Nathanael Anderson (Tenor II); Claire Challacombe (Soprano I); Madison Jester (Alto II); and Erin Koch (Soprano II) Honors Chorus: Libby Lewis (Soprano I) and Zach Moser (Tenor I) Students auditioned in early October for the district level and performed in early November at the district festival. Top students in each district are then chosen to participate at the state level along with students from 8 other districts throughout the state of Illinois. This is the largest group of students that have represented DHS at the state level. The students will participate in the IMEA conference workshops and perform the last day of the conference in late January. What a testament to the talent we have in Dunlap and the music teachers that develop that talent daily. Congratulations!! The cast of Mary Poppins will be hosting a "Tea With Mary" fundraising event on January 9, 2016. The parent committee planning the event says it will be a fun-filled afternoon with the cast. There will be a meet & greet with the cast, dessert & beverages, picture opportunities, a preview of the show, and an opportunity to learn the "Supercalifragilistic" choreography from the show. Tickets are $20 for one adult & one child; and $7 for each additional person. The deadline to register is Monday, December 21, 2015.
