The preseason dates for the 2022 marching band season will be July 25-29 and August 1-5. Please mark your calendars now!

In order to raise funds for their upcoming trip, the choir kids are having a delicious fundraiser! Please contact one of them to order some of these tasty dip mixes. All orders are due by November 10th and will arrive by Thanksgiving.

 Please join us on November 18th from 4-8pm at Portillo's for our next restaurant fundraiser. The DHS Music and Theater Boosters will receive 20% of all proceeds from every in-person order when you show the flyer (does not apply to online orders).  ​

ANASTASIA: THE MUSICAL Auditions:
 
November 2 & 3, 2021 at 6pm
 
Auditions will take place in the Dunlap High School auditorium. Please prepare a song to sing (preferably not from this show), and dress in comfortable clothing for a dance audition. 
 
Arrive on time for your audition and be prepared with a list of your conflicts during rehearsals from Nov. 8 – Jan. 23. Rehearsals will be Monday thru Friday evenings from 6-8pm and some Sunday afternoons from 1-3pm.
Performances will be January 21, 22, and 23, 2022.
 
From Tony winners Terrance McNally, Stephen Flaherty, and Lynn Ahrens, creators of such Broadway classics as Ragtime and Once On This Island, this dazzling show transports its audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by the ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a loveable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family.

Anya/Anastasia:
When we first meet Anya she is a lost soul but with great strength, pride, determination, and dignity; as the story progresses, she begins to discover her sense of self and the possibility that she may be the missing daughter of Tsar Nicholas; not looking for a fairy tale princess; when Anya is transformed into the beautiful Anastasia it should have the same effect and surprise as Eliza Doolittle entering the ball
Vocal part: soprano with belt range
Vocal range: A3-Eb4
 
Dowager Empress:
The formidable and imperious grandmother of Anastasia; Anastasia is her favorite grandchild and she loves her with all her heart; she never truly gives up the belief that her granddaughter might be alive, but finally after years of enduring Anastasia pretenders she becomes hardened and bitter; it is only when she meets Anya that her old spirit begins to return; even when she knows that Anya may not be Anastasia, she realizes that we all need our dreams and we need the truth; actress must have elegance, beauty, and a regal bearing

Dmitry:
An opportunist trying to make it on the streets of Russia by selling stolen objects from the Tsarist past; he is the prince of St. Petersburg’s black market; he creates the scheme to find an Anastasia impersonator in order to gain the reward for her safe return; he is smooth, persuasive, and a real operator; must have a sense of danger, edginess, and charisma; not a typical romantic leaving man, although he and Anya eventually fall in love.

Vlad Popov:
Before the revolution Vlad was a minor functionary at the imperial court; he’s Dmitry’s right-hand man and because of his romantic relationship with Lily he arranges a meeting between Anya and the Dowager Empress; actor must have wit, style, and be a character comedian with panache.

Gleb:
A member of the Chekist secret police, a zealot with tremendous intensity and a dangerous desirability; as the play progresses, we see him rise in power and position within the political party; he is in love with Anya but would not be above killing her if necessary.

Countess Lily Malevsky-Malevitch:
The voluptuous confidante/lady-in-waiting to the Dowager Empress. She’s delightful when she’s not with the Dowager but also compassionate, respectful, and good at her job. She doesn’t take her romantic relationship with Vlad too seriously. Must be a juicy character comedienne with strong physicality.
Vocal part: Mezzo Soprano
 
Supporting Roles:
Tsarina Alexandra, Isadora Duncan, Hotel Manager, Swan Lake ballet dancers, Coco Chanel, Tsar Nicholas II, Gertrude Stein, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, and others.
 
Ensemble: A medium-sized ensemble will fill the various supporting roles, as well as play Russian and Parisian citizens.

Once the form is submitted, verification will be emailed.  DO NOT INCLUDE CREDIT CARD INFORMATION ON THE GOOGLE FORM.  An invoice for payment will be sent later.  A $3 transaction fee will be added to each order. NO CASH OR CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED. All payments will be made electronically using Square, a widely-used secure payment system.  All major credit cards will be accepted.

Orders must be placed by Monday, October 25th to ensure availability by Thanksgiving week.

Orders will be available for pickup at Green View – 2700 W. Cedar Hills Drive, Dunlap, beginning November 19th for your holiday decorating!
